    Default Meyers Glare Mout

Does any one know about these? I have an Ar up for trade on armslist and a guy wants to trade for it. What little I have come up with on them is cool. My concern is they are DoD only, it appears. Now he says that his is the civilian version. Pricing is in the $4-6k range new, but the couple of used ads I have found are more like $500-650 range. Not really sure it is as lucrative as he thinks it is. I'm also not sure i have a use for it, as cool as it is. Any info on this would be great

Never seen one. If you are in LE, may be useful. If you have your weapon aimed at someone otherwise, usually best to pull the trigger.

You really don't have a use for it, why waste the money? Also it can get you into a lot of trouble if you use it for the intent it was designed. I believe you're federally fvcked if you shine it at an aircraft. Are you aware of what it's used for?

Aren't we all "federally fvcked" these days, in a manner of speaking? :-)

As far as having a use for it, well I suppose one could justify it either way. Fed say we don't have a use for semi auto rifles, but here I am on a Ar forum. As far as design, its primary use is for non lethal interaction with a target. It can also be used as a laser pointer, and a light. Think Laser Genetics ND series lights. The whole air plane thing doesn't have me worried. I usually don't find myself at the airport trying to bring down 747's. Just not my thing, not that I'm judging.

What does this thing do/accomplish above and beyond an AN PEQ? In other words, why would it be so expensive?

Maybe ask TheBelly what his thoughts are... he's got that stolen property thread. Maybe you can trick the guy into giving you a closeup shot of the serial number.

    From http://www.bemeyers.com/index.php?op...catid=36&id=12:

Sale of this product is restricted to the Department of Defense through a direct purchase.

This product is subject to U.S. Law, including ITAR, and requires a license from the Department of State for export.
I would run the hell away from this guy and report his e-mail/number to the nearest CID.

Yes, but no use in actually inviting it by using a GLARE device.

Sort of... you are correct they're somewhat used for non-lethal interaction, but their primary use is, as defined by DoD use of Dazzler and GLARE systems, "intended to temporarily blind or disorient its target with intense directed radiation," mostly used in ECP and TCP operations. Outside of police roadblocks, I see no pertinent civilian use.

See my above description. In other words, you don't need one, get a AN PEQ-2.
