I worked near there for a while. Funny you mention "attitude". I called it the "Angry Black Man" BBQ joint. Guy always looked like he wanted to kill someone. His wife and daughter made up for his bad/angry attitude by being extra nice and pleasant. I probably only got takeout from there 2 or 3 times but it was always very good.

Can't stand Piggin' Out...worst I've had in Colorado. Only ate there once but it was horrible.

Still like Nordy's and Serious Texas BBQ (OK...in a BBQ emergency) but both are up north.

Now, for a real surprise, there's a little diner in Grant right on Hwy 285 called the Kenosha Cafe (don't confuse it with "Al's Pits" with all the yellow signs a little farther up the road). Zack, the owner/chef, made a brisket last weekend that was far and away the best I've had in Colorado...anywhere. It's a great place for breakfast and he's trying his hand at a few new things. Smoked with apple wood provided by a friend of mine. He doesn't always have the brisket but it's worth the drive from anywhere to try it. Breakfast is fantastic, too. If you happen to be going that way it's worth stopping for.
