Default 2.2 billion dollars on Obama phones.

Small tax on your phone bill is giving 2.2 billion worth of "free" phones to people. I understand needing a phone for an emergency and reason it was created, but seriously this is crazy. I might lose a job do to government spending in the defense industry but people can get multiple free phones. Government spending sickens me I shouldn't be surprised but I constantly am.

    Typical of any government program.

Just this one has a democrat noticing it and making noise. for once.

I've debated this with a liberal friend and he was ok with it. "A small fee is no big deal to us so I'm all for it if it helps someone else out."

If folks need phones (I don't remember telephones as one of the three human needs: food, clothing & shelter), they can get by in emergencies with land-lines. Mobile phones are nothing but a luxury & a convenience. And if they just must have a mobile phone, then it needs to be the most basic "Jitterbug" type of phone available. If I can get by without a smartphone, so can the entitlement class.

If I recall, that was the orginal intent of the program. Provide people in rural america phones so they can use it in an emergency. Then it morphed it that bloated waste of a program.
