    Yeah, my grandpa made all kinds of stuff like that up until the day he died at 98 years of age 2 years ago.. nothing new or mind boggling there.. actually it misses the whole area of hand turning the wood on a lathe not only for the outside profile but then carving out the inside profile without breaking through the outside and maintaining a consistent thickness. Simply showing the process of a person doing this would have been more impressive.

    A lot of trouble to make but in the end quite a nice piece. If I ever get to retire I may try that.

    I completely agree, we made wooden bowls in high school advanced wood shop, not quite that elaborate but to go along with what you said, roughing the inner and outer profiles was a bit nerve racking the first time, wasn't sure if my bit was going to end up in the roof or the bowl was going to explode...

    My mother still has my best product to this day, 20+ years later.
