What does a solar panel setup cost? Any rebates?

It costs taxpayers plenty. There's no money in it without government subsidies.

I believe you and I have the same HOA. I really wanna do solar panels on my roof. That would be awesome. Pretty expensive to start with.

If you talk to a solar contractor like Solar City they have a letter they will send your HOA that informs them they can not restrict anyone from ownership of solar panels; it's the law.

Right now only Xcel energy customers can use the solar systems currently being marketed to residential customers. The solar companies require you to setup a buy back agreement with your electric company that results in the electric company paying them when the meter spins backwards and xcel is the only company in Colorado that currently does this.

Precisely, the research, development, and production would not be possible without a massive redistribution of wealth from our pockets to the pockets of solar companies via government mandate. Solar is not economically viable but the government is going to force it anyway.

Additionally the rebates presented by Xcel are supported with the dollars from other rate payers via a 2% charge on our Xcel bills. Corporate America does nothing for free nor should they.
Xcel's solar-rebate program is maxed out, temporarily halted - http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/bl...ds-rebate.html

"Less than 1 percent of Xcel customers benefited, but we have to think about all the ratepayers," said Bill Levis, director of the consumer counsel office.
