Not saying we should never get involved- there's a time and place where our involvement is needed and justified (Rwanda anyone?), but we don't need to be the world police, and we don't need to get our fingers in everything. I guess we never learned our lessons from Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Syria...How long until we're fighting the very same guys we armed/trained, like so many times before?

I think even the UN has learned that pacifying African locales is a fools errand.
North Korea, on the other hand, hasn't the US government been criticizing their regime for running what are effectively Nazi style concentration camps for decades? They have satellite imagery of whole industrial towns that escapees have corroborated as being concentration slave camps where people are born into, slaved, reproduce the next slaves then die in the same labor camp. And nobody does anything but give the North more aid and money to get them to stop their temper tantrums. And as history has shown, really only the Asians have culturally shown gratitude and the *ability* to appreciate freedom and not have some religion ruin it and turn it into another dictatorship.

Oil, stability in the region, Israel (well not so much with Oblahblah in office), Saudi agreements, a whole host of reasons it would be harder than it looks on paper. Not saying I disagree with your sentiment, just saying this is the way it is and why we are still there. Of course reason #1 is oil. We need to become more independent and give the finger to the rest of the world setting prices.

UMMMMMM we are the "local" .gov who has a stake in the ME. Where you been the last few decades? You don't arm the .govs opposition with US mfg weapons, you give them AK,s FN's anything but 5.56 chambered weapons.
Once they become openly armed with US weaponry we're in deeper than we should have been.
This admin. has done nothing but support the muslim brotherhood across the ME starting openly in Egypt. Look what we got out of that.
Hell we are now dealing with "Low rent Jihadist" who clearly have NO Connections to anyone or any .org other than themselves.
