I will say I've never received a speeding ticket I didn't deserve. I think of it as a velocity tax.

I never mind paying a ticket I deserve.

However the last 2 I've gotten have me miffed. for the following reasons.

    1. I'm not a speed demon anymore. There was a time in my youth when I was going 90 or nothin'. Now if I speed it's on open road and less than 5mph over.

    2. The first one, officer lied. I was NOT speeding by 6 over, I was slowing down coming into town, and meeting speeds as they stepped down. The officer pulled me over, told me I was going 46 in a 40, that I was wrong there was no 45mph zone. It was his town, I told him "It's your town and you know it better than I do" and signed the ticket. My next time through town I double checked. There WAS a 45 zone. I ALWAYS try to go the speed limit in town, and it annoys the crap out of me when people I've passed on the open road pass me in town at the same speed they were going on the highway. It downright pisses me off when I get the ticket...

    3. When I was 18 I got a ticket for 96 in a 55. It was $220. The ticket Monday was for going 36mph....and I certainly didn't think I deserved it, I was just cruising with my wife and kid and waving to a cop...

    4. My neighbor got busted for 90 in a 55 and driving erratically...He gets let off. He gets busted for going 85 in a 55, it's a $40 ticket, no points... IN A 1 TON.

Lightweight. I got pulled over in my younger days while doing 170 in a 70.

There is a reason I pulled the plates off my sport bike and only road on the track.

So you actually got pulled over at 170? Or stopped at the roadblock?

When i lived in Vegas i rode with SinCitySportbikes. They had a trip planned to head to Death Valley from Vegas and spend the day riding the 90+ mph sweepers through the Valley. In winter it is actually tolerable for temperatures there. Well, I got a late start that morning and missed the main group, as did one other guy. So we took off to try to catch up with them. Headed out of Vegas towards Pahrump and hung a left on some no name road heading to Death Valley. We werent racing or anything, just trying to catch up. And in NV all the roads outside of town are nothing but straight lines for literally miles. I could see where this road curved about 15 miles from where we were. And the speed just started climbing.

So here I am, tucked down relaxing and cruising. Not really paying attention to how fast I am going. I see in the distance a car coming towards us. I am keeping an eye on it. Thinking I am good since I don't see a light bar. About the time the antennas on the trunk become visible the grill lights up like a Christmas tree. Damn, cop. I roll off the throttle, sit up and turn into a sail and look down at the speedo. 165 at that point. Considering I had already come off the throttle, became an air brake the fact I was seeing 165 meant I was traveling over 170 mph when the lights started flashing. The other guy and I were pulled over, our leathers off, licence and registration out and waiting for about a minute or two before the cop got turned around and parked behind us.

I was not about to run from the cops. I don't like Chris Rock, but he does have it right about that. If you run from the Cops they are bringing an ass whooping with them.

End result the cop wrote us for 110 in a 70. I got it lawyer-ed down to 180 bucks and a parking ticket.
