Agreed. Mark Wahlberg would have been a better fit.

I wouldn't hold your breath. But I think they'll do well. I hope and pray Mr. Spielburg does Chris Kyle justice!

Except Wahlberg is already playing a SEAL in Lone Survivor.

Name an actor who is a legitimate bad-ass.
And Marky-Mark is not a legitimate bad-ass. It's acting; if the director and actor are good, they will be able to portray anyone as anything.

Marky Mark would have been a better fit? Seriously? Yeah he did okay in Shooter but you're seriously ragging on Cooper as a pansy then raising Marky Mark as an alternate?

In answer to mtnhack, Vin Diesel worked as a bouncer. That's the closest "legitimate bad-ass" actor I can think of at the moment; unfortunately, the generation of actors who actually went to war has essentially retired or died.

It's all a moot point ... I suspect Spielberg will try to make it an anti-war film like he did with Saving Private Ryan. Can't say I'm too interested in the movie at the moment.

I can name a few... R Lee Ermy -former Marine, I need say no more; Chuck Norris- do I really need to explain this one?; Harrison Ford- yep, real-life BAMF, he crashed a helicopter and walked away, among other things; Christopher Lee- former British Special Operations, worked with Ian Flemming in WWII; Kurt Russell- Racecar driver, aspired to be a martial arts badass, and was one helluva baseball player in his youth; Danny Trejo- lived a lot of the roles he portrayed (except vampire, that was 100% fiction); Mickey Rourke- former boxer with 17 KOs; Lee Marvin- WWII hero and very successful hunter; Dolph Lundgren- Champion martial arts expert, could possibly beat the everloving shit out of Steven Seagal; Steven Seagal- Also pretty much plays himself in all of his movies, plus he's a deputy sheriff in Louisiana; Robert Mitchum- lived on the streets growing up (great depression era) and escaped a damn chain gang at age 14!; Mel Brooks- WWII hero; And of course, perhaps the most badass of all: Audie Murphy- if you don't know who this guy is, come, join us in the land of the people who don't live in a fucking cave!

True- they are all either A) too old, or B) no longer among the living.
Although, the guy playing in Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg is pretty badass- Taylor Kitsch. Ya know, for an actor. But I agree, they could have cast about 6 guys better suited to play Chris Kyle than Brad Cooper. I personally liked Alexander Skarsgard in Generation Kill.

His brother Donnie would be OK, at least he's pretty bad ass in Blue Bloods.

Every time I hear Donnie mentioned I first think of this:
