Steven Spielburg to direct 'American Sniper'

I just recently finished reading this book, the entire time wishing they would make it into a movie, but at the same time not knowing if they could do Mr. Kyle justice. I hope this movie is as good as the book as well as shows the American public just how awesome this guy was.

As for Bradley Cooper, he has some serious shoes to fill, but I believe he can do well.

All those bagging on Bradley Cooper might be interested to know that it was HIM who campaigned to have this movie made and Spielberg finally singed on, not the other way around. Say what you want but I could care less about the guy before this movie (my wife didn't share that opinion of him) but after that he's on my good guy list. I'm sure he could have just as easily done a shitty rated G movie to make boatloads of money if that's all he cared about. And from someone who might have to have his mother move in with him for health reasons I'm not sure why that even came up.

In the end if it gets his story out to a few more people who otherwise wouldn't know then I say good deal.

Cooper is a better actor than many of the roles he's had. I think he can pull it off. I'm more concerned about Spielberg's side of the equation. It'll be fine if he brings his anti-war spin subtly but I'm just afraid he'll go over the top with his anti-war message.
