    Default DIY Kydex shealths

Anyone have any experience with making your own kydex sheaths?
    I found some things online:
    ( http://willowhavenoutdoor.com/genera...-your-kitchen/ , http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/produc...oducts_id=2252 )
Just curious if anyone has any first hand experience to share?

My nephew has a Mantis Chaos and I would like to make him a kydex shealth for a gift.
Also curious about building in retention mechanisms into the sheath.

Thanks in advance for any input!

I've made several kydex knife sheaths. However, I never made a retention mechanism for any of them, I just didn't find it necessary.

I did a short DIY article on kydex for ITS tactical. Sorry I don't know how to get a direct link to the article but if you go to the ITStactical website and search "kydex" you should be able to find it.

Alright... well it is adding HTML tags to my post without me doing it, so I&#39;ll try some other time.</p>

I made one for my Crovel. Once you watch a few YouTube vids, it is pretty easy to do. I like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K1YwKXqTDA I adapted the video to make a sheath for my Crovel: </p>

It ended up working nicely, I just adapted the step-by-step for something with a larger blade. Retention was not a problem. It ended up being snug enough.</p>

I make my own sheaths. Its not to difficult and the more you make the easier it is.

The key to making a good sheath with retention is picking the right blade design. Not all knives work well with kydex.
