my favorite is when you know they purchased their item here and (kinda) know what they paid for it a couple months earlier. I saw a great deal on a 1911 that got snatched up pretty quick (in the $850 range), 2 months later it was offered to me on a trade. I was told my "pre panic" price was $700 (I was asking $1000) but his 1911 was worth a $1500 trade

Just because someone prices an item more than you may think it is worth, doesn't make it worth more or less.
The true value is what someone will pay for it. That someone may or may not be you.

True but when I post an ad at current retail price for an item that is selling for 3x that on gunbroker, don't waste my time thinking I'm stupid or pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

I have this problem too. My item is listed at retail for pre panic. Everyone wants panic or if im lucky msrp in credit for theirs. When I tell them they need to make up the gap in goods or cash they disappear.

The few that do get it don't have what I want in trade

No, that's actually a good deal. M&Ps are at least $200 better than Glocks.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

If i cannot replace said item for what i am selling it for it either has a current (Store retail) value OR i don't sell it.
HOWEVER Being a proud Capitalist If there's an interested buyer good for you. Remember some parts are not available or has the backorder from last Nov-Dec been released.
BTW: based on the construction of HCWT's shovel with the dual tangs and wood handle i'd ask a premium

Ya don't need to add them. Just do what Century does. Make a few grind marks in it, stamp a "C" and call it a US part.

As to the trade value issue that is just a haggle thing. Call the guy out. And ya come to an agreement or ya don't. Getting butt hurt because someone would not move on their value is not good for your long term health.

This I fully understand. I hear it all the time, sell me some ammo! OK, lets see what I have to pay to replace it.......

Of course this comes back to 75% of our work around here and that is policing the yahoos that just HAVE to save the world by pointing out that they can buy it cheaper somewhere else in the TP.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.

When I came across these, I would simply rate the thread really low (i.e. 1 star). I was hoping people would start following suit but no one else jumped on the band wagon. Since this was also when there was a distinct lack of moderator sympathy for vocalizing displeasure with a particular ad, I didn't want to bring it up.

Of course, I don't care if you're trying to sell something at market price (yay Capitalism!). I understand that most folks here don't appreciate AL/GB pricing here on the forum, but some members are willing to pay a premium for certain items and putting it here helps them. The guys I'm referring to are the ones who think your item should be pre-panic priced compared to their panic priced item and guys asking 2x what the item is going for on AL/GB.

An $800 Rem 870? GTFO. Ain't no one got time for that.
