Default Help identify a small brick construct

Howdy, all. With the broad diversity of experiences on this board, I think somebody will know what these photos are.

We just bought a rural property. This is a new adventure for us, and not everything is self-explanatory.

The below pictures are of a small brick construct in the back yard area. I sort of wonder if it's supposed to be a barbecue pit or something but I would assume it should have more charring if that was the case.

Does anybody have a guess what this is?

Probably something the previous owner used to hide the fact that he buried a body there.

Looks like a BBQ minus the grill. Kinda close to the fence though.

    That's my professional opinion anyway.

Looks like an old incinderator for burning trash.

My guess too. We had a similar one behind our house, except it had a bit of a chimney on it. It was supposedly for burning leaves and stuff.

^^^ This. In my younger years I lived in Culver City, CA and in our neighborhood ever house had a trash incinerator. The one you have is missing the burn chamber and chimney. Get one of these burning right and its like the charcoal starters, the burn hot with little smoke and reduce just about everything to a very fine ash powder.
