    What is it? Clearly an engine, but for what?

    hercs were on a lot of farm equipment , but I've seen em running compressors and one some sawmill equipment in wyoming

    they used a lot of them in deuce and a half's, some in even bigger mil. trucks, and some were even used in old pt boats.

    Yep. Considering that the sides of the engine bay are open and the top is covered (or so it appears), my guess is an M35.

    my grandfather had a dredger he used to clean the irrigation ditches with from around the same era, dammit I should of thought of that.

    Good one. I was completely focused on .mil vehicles.

    Okay, next challenge. The goal here is to guess what it is. Bonus points for what specifically was in it and where it was.
