Default My son is a karate bad-ass!

Got back from my son's karate awards dinner tonight. He had testing for his conditional black belt Friday and Saturday. He passed!! He will likely have his Certified Black Belt in about 6 months.

I am so damn proud of him!! He's worked his ass off. In addition to all the normal practices he has (approx 2 hours twice a week), the last two months he had to do an additional Preparation class. He's been doing about 10 hours of karate per week for two months! For testing this weekend, he had 5.5 hours on Friday and another 4.5 hours on Saturday. Just on Saturday, he did well over 400 pushups. Not bad for a 12 year old!

Watch out dad looks like he can kick dads ass.

Very nice to see a child dedicate them self to something other than TV, PC and Xbox. Congrats

Thanks Jim. We let him try about every sport but he just didn't take to anything and we aren't going to force it on him. He started in karate about 3 years ago and it has been great. He loves it! And his school work is better, he is more respectful and has more self-esteem. Great combination.

I'll be OK for a little while just because of the size difference (I'm 6'6"), but that will likely only last for another couple of years till he about 15 I'd guess. Karate keeps him in really good shape, something I need!

Awesome, congrats. My daughter did it for about 9 years and got her second degree black belt before things in the school became too political and she couldn't take it anymore.

Awesome! At 12 years old, your boy already has more discipline and work ethic than most college freshmen. Kudos to you both.

Story of my life, I quit my school after my 1st degree black belt as advancing any further required an inordinate amount of fellating the right people.
