Default bugout bag -- what's in yours?

Looking to build/tweak my bugout bag and figure now's the time to start preparing such an animal.

What's in yours? What's necessary and what's not?

    Food, shelter, and ammo!!!

Actually, basicly a good sleeping bag, small tent and tarp, ammo, mre's, first aid kit, flashlight and batteries, emergency radio, water purifying system(tabs, filters, whatever). spare parts for weapons, basic hand tools, reliable all weather fire starting stuff(bic lighters and waterproof matches!), knife, hatchet, e-tool, rope/string, compass, toilet paper, warms clothes, plenty of socks/underware in case stuff gets wet, hats, gloves. Keep it all in a good weatherproof bag, and if you can make it light weight, go for it!!!! oh! and dont forget LOTS of ammo!!!! possible even some in standard calibres even if you arent carrying a weapon chambered for such(bring some 9mm, 5.56, 7.62x39,12GA). you never know when you will have some sort of "pick up weapon" in a SHTF situation! another good thing to remember is that "2 is 1, and 1 is none" bring extras, stuff breaks! copies of important documents(ID, bank info, birth certificate yadayada) oh, and dont forget CASH! a couple hundred bucks could go a LONG way! if you end up camping out, park you jeep or truck or whatever a little ways off but still visable from your camp site(couple hundred feet off the trail or so) then try and camp uphill where you are harder to see than your vehicle. then if somebody is messin /w your vehicle, you still have the element of surprise on them!

My advise is just tow you're frigging house with you and be done with it.

My little bit of advise......first off in a SHTF situation I hardly think money is going to mean anything. I really doubt ID....Bank info......never mind you must be shitting me.............

You can camp down hill just use your visa, mastercard, passport, birth certificate, mothers maiden name, DNA, or man card to block your position.

It works every time trust me.

Far be it for Me to disuade any "Red Dawn" fantasies,, But After looking at it with a degree of logic, I have yet to come up with the circumstance as to where "bugging out" would make any sense.

Invasion: Who? Other than the lefties already here,, China would be the only country at the moment with the capibilities of doing it. But why, They have already done that economicly, Why kill the Goose that lays the golden egg.. Russia? Maybe if Putin gets a wild hair, Not for a few Years, Still have to rebuild..

Nuclear strike: Not out of the relm of possibility, But, unlikely.. Besides if I recall, The corridor between Colorado Springs and Cheyenne Is pretty well targeted.. And, it's about 26 minutes between the time they touch the button and impact, So what's the point.. I'd just as soon go out throwing the ball to Dozer than stuck in traffic.. Granted given a couple of days, I could disappear real good..

Weather: A few minutes too a few days What's the point?

Riots/Looters: I'm sure a few well placed shots will presude them to move along, there is nothing too see here..

Terror Attack: Chances are You ain't seeing that one comming anyway..

So in conclusion, Run too the hills and play Rambo for a few days if You think You must. Me, I have 72 hours worth of food and water, a Comfy chair and "Red Dawn" I'm set...

I was reading through that list of shhhtuff to throw in my BOB, and as I continued through the list I'm thinking this bag better have wheels. By the end of it, I'm thinking if I use my Chevy Tahoe as the bag, I may need a bigger bag.

I'm better off hunkering down right where I am. I have like-minded/well armed neighbors and feel our position will be well protected.
