Obama/Biden Button, flip-flops, "Bush Lied" T-Shirt, and jeans that haven't been washed since Clinton left office.

If you have to E&E, gotta bring camouflage.

Don't forget your Subaru with appropriate bumper stickers.

Seriously, carrying stuff in your car is a great idea, with the knowledge that any foodstuffs will deteriorate at a more rapid rate with the heat. If you are at home and something happens, prolly best to stay put. I wouldn't be betting my future on just a "FEMA recommended 72 hour supply of food/water" tho.

Don't forget about tapping your water heater if the need arises.

They're going to the Tattered Cover to hang out with their friends before heading over to the organic grocery.

I bought a firearms book at the Tattered Cover and you would have thought that I had burned a pair of Birkenstocks in effigy.

Default Get-home bag a better idea

Now that I'm back in Free America/God's Country/CONUS and have my very own pickimuptruck again, I've been stocking it and some of the items on the list so far have been:
    1. E-tool - one of the great creations ever. The new ones are great, Gerber makes the Gucci of e-tools. Just went to post to buy another issue E-tool and they want $70 !!!
    2. Hatchet (more for attempted car-jacking or emergency egress than anything else)
    3. Compass/Mapcase/canteen w/cup/Goretex jacket. This was my old standby from operating days, the compass and canteen cup are crucial. Inside the map case are fire-starter/heat tabs, water purification tabs. There's a Gerber Mk 1 stuck in between the clips holding the canteen on the strap.
    4. Poncho, hank of 550 cord.
Still rooting through kit bags to see what other stuff makes sense. got an old E&E bag that might just get restocked.
Used to keep an FR-8 and ammo in my Jeep last time I was here for a while. Maybe an SKS and battle pack this time.

Doh! Forgot the cover story. Yeah that's it, that's the ticket! I'm a "Community Organizer"... You know, it's like having a job, just no responsibility, and no paycheck.

Dunno about the "no paycheck" part ... I know a former Community Organizer who was raking in plenty of jing ... $4.2 Mil last year alone.

Still working on the get-home bag for the truck, maybe a .22 of some kind (handgun or rifle?) probably handgun if I'm going with an SKS but maybe the way to go is large-caliber handgun and .22 rifle.
