    Default Ammo feed issue???

So i know nothing about AK's..............

My ladies brother came to me with this issue with this newly purchased AK. I figured i would ask you gents, figured you would know whats going on.

When the round is chambering, something is catching the bullet/casing and jamming the bullet back into the casing and crushing/ dimpling the case. The photos show the PMC ammo, but he claims to have tried several types of ammo and they all suffered the same result. This occurs right away it is not an issue when it is cold/hot or just a random occurrence, it happens all the time.
He has several brands of mags as well and they all do the same thing. The only time it does not have any issue is when he runs his drum mag. (i dont know the brand) I think it is a 75 round drum. (i think)

Sorry i dont have a lot of info, and i dont know anything about these things so any info is a great help. He wants to know if he should take it to a gunsmith or if it is an issue with this brand or what..

    thanks gents!!!!!

You can see in this picture the wear mark that appears to be catching the bullet/casing....

Top shot of magwell with mag in it. Both a loaded and unloaded one por favor. What mags, hows the bullet guide etc etc. In your case pics are better or can you drop over after work. I know a few ak guys in the area could look at it, while you wait.

On second thought it's probably another shitty AK. Better i take it off his hands then be stuck with it.

Has it been converted to double stack mags?ie-able to take standard ak mags?
From the looks of the picture it looks like the rounds are catching on the lower left feed lug.
Might have a burr on it or may need to be opened up a bit.
I would bring it over to Bert at BP tactical and have him check it out.If it needs to be smoothed out he can do it in no time on his mill..

I know he uses tapco mags and has issues. But the drum feeds with no issues. Don't know the make of the drum. Ill ask him to send me some more pictures of the mags and action.

The mag follower may need to be tweaked, same for the mag spring. Based with that info i suggest some COMMIE mags to eliminate a mag issue. The Tapco 7.62 mags i have work fine.

Heretic. EVEN Euro AK mags can cause issues. Most of them are due to mag to mag release fit and some could (like the tapcos) sit low enough the ratio of feed - FTF sucks. (hows that for technical)
