I wasn't military, so I don't have an opinion to throw in on the legitimacy of the guy. But if he does happen to be an actual marine, I wouldn't give a SHIT what he does to unwind at a party. If I'm so adamant about being given pretty much unrestricted freedom in my civilian life, I would expect that somebody who's serving his country and offering to risk his life in that capacity deserves to pursue R&R in any way he sees fit. I've been close friends with several marines over the years, and never knew a one who didn't have some insane party stories.

When I was in, the Marine Corps was about the PARTYING. Party hard, train hard, and always go home. Ive partied with Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers in 13 countries and always had a blast, and no one ever called me a poser for doing it. Now, Im older and wiser and partying isnt my thing (although Ive never done drugs in my life).

Party with my Company in Jordan

    Partying with PACCOM top brass

Partying in Cambodia with my BN

    Partying in the UAE/Saudi Arabia

    Partying in Singapore

Dont be so quick to judge. Oh, and I have exposed tattoos and had them while in the Corps (not on my hands or neck though)

You can get waivers for small tats when enlisting. I knew more than one Marine with that little teardrop tat you see on inmates. . . seemed to be a common story to hear they enlisted because the judge told them, "prison or the Marine Corps." Excessive amounts of ink above the collar is typically disqualifying.

I've never met a Marine who can't spit out his MOS, unit, and even his bootcamp platoon number without having to stop to think about it. I was a 2841 Ground Radio Repairman, 3/1 Camp Pendleton, deployed with the 15th MEU; I got out 12 years ago and I still remember the names and ranks of all my Drill Instructors. Anyone who says he can't remember his MOS (all four digits) is lying about being a Marine, no other test questions necessary.
