Default Headspacing problem with new bolt

I'm having a problem with a brand new bolt (LR-308 style) and am kinda stumped, was hoping maybe someone has seen this and has ideas on what it may be before spending the next few weeks (at least) trying to get a replacement from the manufacturer...

I've got 2 nearly identical bolts from the same manufacturer, one of them brand new, and the new bolt will not close on a GO gauge (1.630). The older bolt headspaces just fine, and everything else is the same, including the same carrier. Unfortunately I don't have the proper tools to accurately measure all of the surface/outer dimensions and compare them, but to the naked eye both bolts look identical in every way except for the NiB coating on the new (problem) one.

Any of you guys seen this before, or am I stuck dealing with the manufacturer?

    Thanks

Come see me, I can measure the bolt for you and check the gage, chamber etc.
FWIW, in the last six months I have seen more maladies with new parts than ever. Manufacturers are cranking out product as fast as they can and quality control suffers

Sounds like a good idea to me... I'll give you a call tomorrow.

    Thanks BP
