There is a big difference between the cosmetic dressing that Turnbull is famous for and performance enhancement that you see on competition firearms and I'm sorry you don't see that, I guess that's your fault. You're trying to compare an auction for a dressed up firearm with performance enhancements and it just doesn't work that way. You talk about the guys working on the Perazzis being normal guys but you ignore the fact that what they're working on is different. My cousin specializes in fixing and tuning European autos and has for over 30 years. You can put him (the same mechanic) on a Porsche 911 and Toyota Prius and they just won't perform the same way.

There is an element of shooting something because they get it for free but there's also a very real difference in performance in some of these systems. I'll bet you CAN take an off-the-rack Mossberg and get it to shoot like a Perazzi -- you may or may not have $3000 invested in it by the time you do but it's certainly possible to make them perform similarly.

That's what I was thinking... not the same.

It has to do with mechanics. I dont think you guys really know what you're talking about when it comes to shooting at a world level and shooting hundreds of thousands of rounds through the same shotgun. Spyder thinks a Mossberg Silver Reserve will last as long as a Perazzi.

Um... ya, actually one more than likely will. Perazzi's break also.... there are Steven's that have shot tens of thousands of rounds without breaking.... Before you go trying to be a smart ass, you should know what you're talking about. I've seen a Perazzi come through the school to have one of our instructors work on because in it's first week of use, the sear broke. What point were you trying to make?

Well, I didn't compare a Prius to a Porsche... And, a Perazzi isn't some complicated shotgun..... If your gunsmith is good, he can work on it. Like I said, no rocket science involved. I don't get the correlation... there isn't special metal that these are made of. The higher end shotguns that are from the normal manufacturers are made of high grade metals, um, just like your Perazzi... Tolerances in the Perazzi will be higher, but that is something that your gunsmith can do with your Mossberg, or used Citori that you can buy for under a grand. Yes, like I said, these lower shelf shotguns will require money invested ("they can be made to") to get them to shoot like a Perazzi, but it will still be thousands, many thousands less, a giant fraction less than a Perazzi.

I guess the point that i am trying to drive home is that I think it is best left up to each member of the US Shooting Team or anyone else for that matter to decide on what brand and style of shotguns will accommodate their individual needs in order to bring home the gold in their particular shooting disciplines. Whether you are for the Mossberg/Stevens or the designs of Daniele Perazzis MX series of guns, those shooters know what works best for them.


You're right Perazzis are not complicated shotguns that is what makes them so awesome.
