    Default background check

I need to get a background check on someone who's come into my family's life. Criminal check especially, credit check if possible -- in short, who is this person. I know at least "minor" run-ins with the law exist in various states, but know nothing beyond that. I have a real name, birth date and place, and Social Security number.

(Not going to get into details here; I hope you understand.)

So, anyone know someone reliable for this kind of thing, and any idea of cost/time?

Drive to the CSP over at 6th and Kipling and its 10.00 to run a background.

Just giving ya options. They're in the rear most red brick 4/5story building on the NE corner.

Go to CBI's web site it takes about five minutes and costs around $6. You have to have all their information to do it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've looked at the CBI stuff and think I need something more comprehensive.

This person has been in the state less than a month. Looking at the CBI page at https://www.cbirecordscheck.com/CBI_...I_newIndex.asp it seems like a lot of detail would be missing. (It has a lot of "State of Colorado only" and "only certain kinds of records" disclaimers.)

This is important to me and mine, and I want the facts beyond what a firearms transfer "go|no-go" will provide. I can't depend on a well-told tale and an easy smile for this one.

If the CBI check available to the public for less than ten bucks does all that, I'm sorry that I'm dense and could use more explanation.

CBI is connected to NCIC that being said if you're that nervous about this person I would cut all ties and call it a day just my .02.

I am tapdancing hard around the details (if nobody has noticed), but me cutting my family's ties with this person is not possible.

Sorry for not laying out all the gory details here. I'm well aware that some may draw the wrong conclusions. It's a serious situation for us and I have very little control over it.

My suggestion is if it's that important to know all his background you will have to get a PI to do a search. Since you have his real name DOB and social security number it won't be too expensive. You can find PI's online that can do this, but I'd see one in person and explain exactly what you want.

The online people search websites tend to not have all the info available. Some are decent and will even tell you if they have had utilities shut off, but for deeper criminal backgrounds they can miss stuff.

Yup, hence my original post asking for a reference.

For those following along with casual interest in something like this,
I paid for the CBI report (for $6.87, or something like that, why not), and aside from boilerplate disclaimer what it said was

No Colorado Record of arrest has been located based on information provided.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's database contains detailed information of arrest records based on fingerprints provided by Colorado law enforcement agencies. Arrests, which are not supported by fingerprints, will not be included in this database. On occasion the Colorado criminal history will contain disposition information provided by the Colorado Judicial system. Additionally, warrant information, sealed records, and juvenile records are not available to the public.

So I still dunno what this does or doesn't include. If CBI is hooked up to NCIC, does this mean the person is clear of felonies nationwide, or do I just know that there's not one in Colorado?

    Wink

get him drunk and hook his balls up to a car battery..he will tell you all you want to know....lol just kidding...damn my daughter is in trouble when she grows up. Anyways....here is one I have used... http://www.howtoinvestigate.com/background_checks.htm but to be honest, who can say if EVERY infraction is found....some things like drunk in publics and other minor charges wont be found on national background checks...but any felonies or drug charges ect SHOULD be found. All you can do is use this info you find and then use your own judgement and gut feeling. Good Luck my friend....
