7mm $pendel

Years back, after running into the proverbial buttload of almost free IMI 7.62 X 39 brass I had Kiff and Co grind a reamer for Grendel necked up to 7mm with the idea of yet another subsonic cartridge.
Recently, after running into "currently unavailable" and "sold out" over and over whilst looking for 30 cal and 6.5 cal bullets ... I got the urge to dust the project off with the idea of replacing the 300 WTF I cant find bullets for.
Seen in the pic is a Speer 7mm 110 TNT at just under mag length , theres lots of room for propellent. I got a 9 Twist barrel chambered for it this afternoon and should have an upper together later in the week.
A standard 7.62 X 39 will get a 100 gr bullet going 2700 fps and a Grendle can do 2670 with a 107 SMK. I'm looking for 2650 ? with H-4198. It was easy with the 30 cal version.

Trying something different for the charging handle with this upper...feels more natural to pull up than down on the charge phase while in position.



assembled to the point of being able to test fire. lots of changes once the viability has been determined.

this went well, the case fills out nicely once fireformed so it'll work in a Grendle mag, best group out of 50 rounds, 3 shots once I put a scope on it.



I loaded the 20 cal version a ,little warm and blew the primer pockets on two cases before i decided it werent a fluke.

Very cool man. Very cool. This is exactly why I do not have a lathe or mill in my garage...

If your 7 $pendel is anything like the other uppers you have built for me, I bet this one is a tackdriver.
