    Default My first pistol match

... well, not necessarily a match... but a classifier.. well, sh*t!? Someone correct me on this.

I can't really say that I'm a competitive, tactical pistol kinda guy to start with. I could stand there and shoot paper and steel with my or others pistol (s) no problem all day and not really think about it, but maybe smirk and think to myself.. "cool, I hit it"

I jumped in this IDPA event thinking "ha! the worse that can happen is missing a few shots" no sweat. Boy... was I wrong!
Well let me start with how my day began.
I packed my sh*t early this morning (0500) excited about the whole thing of course. Got to the range and met up with a handful of board members on here. Cool.. cool... As the guys were setting up the courses I see a guy carrying an ammo box. I think to myself... Hhhmmm... walked to my car popped the trunk open and guess what I "DIDN'T" see? My f*cken ammo box! So I sped straight home and grabbed my sh*t which took me about 2 hours for the whole ride. Yea... stoopid.. I know.
Fine... I find the guys I'm shooting with.. cool.. cool... all smiles and laughs... Got my gear together, and I hear "You're up".... ohhhh shhhhh****t! I had to have the range officer repeat instructions at least 3 times before I shot, I was sweating like a whore in church (don't know if I did that right), my hands were shaking like... well, let me put it this way.... if I felt that nervous around a woman/women ("women" never that lucky)... lets just say I would've got the job done with just my hands.
There were 3 stages.. and you know what? I f*cken suck! I had 1 or 2 penalties, and 2 malfunctions oooowwweee did my panic meter spike or what?! It was even funnier on stage 2 (moving and shooting)... I was walking to my targets like a penguin
So yes... I came there unprepared in all areas, I rushed a lot of my shots, and who knows how much stuff i could've done better... but you know what? That sh*t was freaken FUN!

the really cool part are the guys there.. especially the guys running the event.. aww man! they would actually come up and give you great tips, point out and suggest what could help out and basically make things more comfortable. I have learned a sh*t ton from this one event... and of course I had a blast!

100 rounds or so plus $20 is what I had to have participate in this event... and of course the required gear. There were guys there that were in their late 20's up to probably their 60's... so don't let age stop you or be an excuse to check one of these out. Just to throw this out there I was shooting with my FNP 45 Tactical.
I'm extremely tired from all the laughing and shooting... or shooting and laughing I'm trying my best to make some sense with all of this.... but I would like to say, if you haven't tried any of these pistol matches... OOhh sh*t! You are missing out my friend!

Here's a pic taken of the 3rd stage. I would've taken more pics, but I was nervous as hell... so I paid more attention to how these stages were worked.

Welcome to the wonderful world of IDPA. I've been meaning to get out to Idaho Springs and get back into it. Ammo is the hold up right at the moment. I really enjoy the scenario side of IDPA, never was a big one for the "classifiers". They sure are fun though. By the looks of it, is that CRC? Have to keep my eye open for when the next one is, perhaps meet you out there.

Damn high power and pistol you're really loosing your cherry this year ain't ya. Wait until you're 3-4 matches in to it. cruising through the course of fire, as you go for the next mag FORGOT to reload and still have an empty mag on your belt.

... yea.. popping the cherry did hurt a little

Sh*t.. it was bad enough forgetting my ammo at home... I was supposed to have 3 rounds, but I had 1 to many which I got penalized for.... never did say I was good with numbers

It was fun as hell though.. you all know I'll be wanting to do this one again soon too
