Default Gun Counter ignorance is not just in the gun store. Name some other examples.

I know a lot of us are passionate about one thing or another. Most here have a passion for firearms.
This makes it difficult when you find someone spewing ignorance at the gun counter frustrating.

But, it isn't just the gun counter. It happens in almost all sales areas.

I work in the trailer/truck industry. I see/hear daily that auto dealers are telling folks they can tow things with their small SUV's that shouldn't be attempted even with a 1 ton dually.
Ok, maybe a little bit of an stretch, but not by a lot.

Auto sales, electronics, camper sales, hot tubs.... what are your experiences?

How many of you have found out after the sale that your salesman was full of it?
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Never listen to salesmen! I have always done all my own research. I buy cars from a private dealer and most everything else on the internet. I do go to ACE, Lowes and a few local gunshops, but not to "shop". So really never happened to me.

Arg... instrument sales and people put in charge of purchasing that know NOTHING about them!!!

There is a REASON (manufacturing quality, testing, metal lurgy, resonance nodes, etc) trumpet A is only $300 and trumpet B is $3K. Please, do yourself a favor and get B... Or just give me the money and I'll take care of it.

Then you hear the "Well, player X would sound the same on horn A vs B"....

Well, duh you friggin' moron, player X has X number of years of performing and is competent to produce. However, I can guarantee you that player X is working his behind off trying to get a decent sound out of horn A, while when he uses horn B, it's a friggin Maybach in comparison!

If I want a good laugh I ether stump the apple geeks or go into best guy's computer section and wait for the bs to start flying.

I just about pulled a guy at the local parts store across the counter and beat him one day. I didn't ask for your lame ass diagnosis of my vehicle. You're barely qualified to tie your own shows and struggle to look up the correct parts for my vehicle in the computer.

I used to work as a pharmacist. It is amazing what people "know" about medications and various over-the-counter natural products.

I'm at Home Depot looking at ceiling fans. Lady comes over and asks if I'm installing it or if I want them to do it. I say I'll be doing it and I've done it before. She recommends a flimsy sheet metal "ceiling fan brace". I let her know I have access to the joists from the attic and I'll be using a 2x4 brace to mount it. She lets me know the 2x4 is not strong enough and I should use her little bracket. Then she says come over here and I'll show you the demo we have setup. I let her know I've seen it and a 2x4 screwed to the 2x4 joists will be more than sufficient. She gets snippy and says ok then walks away.

I've dealt with many helpful people at HD over the years but every now and then I get one like her.

First 5k oil change / tire rotation at Ehrlich Toyota in Greeley, wife took in the car with instructions for service manager to call me BEFORE ANY work was done. No call, wife gets home, wrong oil weight, and items requested not done. Few days later notice spots on driveway, go under and find drain plug less then finger tight, 2 lugs on right rear about to fall off. More then pissed, I would of thought being we bought the vehicle there, they would of been a little bit more accommodating. Will I continue to take it back for the included free oil changes and tire rotations for the next 25k, FUCK NO. It's sad, but customer service sux ass just about anyplace you go. Want it done right? Do it yourself.

ANY camera store that doesn't cater exclusively to commercial end users: "this camera takes really good pictures"

(no such camera has ever been made, any camera is just a tool)
