this was a great weekend, i went to one last april. the instructors are volunteers who do it because they believe in a nation of rifleman. presently, there's not a date scheduled for the 2009 colorado event, but check their schedule site for updates: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=4469.0. you can't beat the value of the instruction - $70 for a full weekend of class is a great bargain.
Since ssf467 posted this, I will not go. He is to be doubted at every turn.

trust, but verify.there were a couple brief AARs from people who attended the CO one this year.

regardless of ssf (re)posting it and anyone's opinion of him, i still think appleseed is a worthwhile and affordable beginner course. you're not going to learn to compensate for bullet drop or windage for long shots, but you'll get the basics of how to take the shot (sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, npoa, follow through, etc).
Regardless of who posted this, it is a legitimate thing.
I have not gone to one, but hear great things about them.
And I hear its a cheap one day class if you need a refresher. And everyone could use some refreshers on the basics. I don't see a current one on the schedule.

who do we have to appeal to in order to get one of these here in Denver? Maybe at Pawnee or the north shoot site?
I was never trained to properly shoot a rifle, and I would love for my kids to experience something like this.

In addition to the above appleseedinfo links, take a look at the AAR from the Canon City Appleseed this past April.
If you'd like to see a Colorado Appleseed next year, I'd recommend signing up for a user name on the forum and then politely asking Franktown_Kid (who hosted the event last year) if he'd consider hosting the Colorado Project Appleseed again - it probably wouldn't hurt to offer him help in the organizing/setup of the event, too.
Thanks for the info. guys. I'd love to see this happen.
