Default Phone solicitor just sang JJ Cale's 'Cocaine' in its entirity to me.

I just got one of those 'Cardmember Services' automated calls. And like I usually do when I get them, I press "1" to speak to someone, put the phone on mute and set it down. I figure they're wasting some of my time, so I can at least return the favor.

Anyway, a guy with a very deep voice picks up, thanks me for holding, states his name, and then asks how I'm doing today. I kept working and continued listening.

He said 'hello' two more times, hummed the main riff of JJ Cale's 'Cocaine' a few times and then proceeded to sing the ENTIRE song. He even half-assed hummed the interlude.

When he finished, he hung up.

    I couldn't make this up.

Apparently their calls aren't recorded for quality and training purposes.

    Was he any good?

No, not at all. But it was still super entertaining. I'm still a little shocked that he went on for a solid two and a half minutes.

My dad does the exact same thing. Having worked in a call center (not that kind of call center though), I can tell you that being put on hold is a wonderful break from from dialing, answering, being yelled at, and working in general; plus they are being paid, so they don't care about how the time is spent. I understand the sentiment though.

Those people who call from "Card member services" aren't even a real company. They will swear and argue with you on the phone. It is the equivalent of street hustlers, just behind a phone. Don't waste the time. That is funny though.

Heh, I once answered and told them what they were doing was illegal. The woman screamed back "As long as I don't violate my parole I'm fine" and hung up.

Sadly, they always call while I'm at work now. I want to answer and play a certain song from the South Park movie at full blast...

They call my work phone constantly, the best one was I stopped grinding long enough to answer the phone, when I saw who it was I continued to grind with the phone on. They lasted 30 seconds.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.
