As long as the person receiving the firearm does the 4473 (and there are no indications of straw purchase), then most of the stores I've dealt with will do this. We had a guy denied once that then talked about just having his wife buy the gun. I told him hell no. Then again I've had wives pay for guns for their husbands as a gift and the husband does the paperwork for receiving the gun, no problem. With all of that said, a guy buying another guy a gun is pretty rare and begs suspicion.
Ultimately, if you want to keep the transaction free from clutter, have the guy that owes you money pay you money and then do the purchase yourself.
