Lol I'm sure he appreciates your optimism, but there's no grass anywhere near there and it wasn't even windy today.

If you wouldn't mind checking to see if they have one, that'd be great.

ChunkMonkey's checking on a source for me up in Denver & cofi is here. (Thanks guys!). If I can find one local, that would be best as I'd rather not drive to Denver without a window to get it replaced. I've never replaced a window before, but I've had them replaced (someone busted out my drivers side window on this same vehicle next to my home 15 months ago). I had Safelite replace that one and they did a shitty job. I remembered it only costing about $125, but my wife reminded me how much it actually cost (~$200).

First of all, before I read anything else. Get on the phone to local import junk yards. You should be able to get the glass for $50-$60, and if they can't install it for another $40, they'll know who can. Shouldn't cost you much more than $100.

    Yeah, that sucks.

If it helps I have 16 acres and a really good friend (who doesn't talk much) who owns an excavating company. And Bailey's closer than NE. Just sayin'.

It always happens to the least deserving of the population... I'll explain after addressing Jerry's post...

This is something I've always been confused by- in relation to Ginsue's issue my buddy had a '98 Honda Civic, parked in the lot behind Cervantes (25th & Welton- 5 Pts), POS car, you would think no one would look twice at it... one night- STOLEN!? My BMW, about 50x nicer (by my estimate- and cost about $13K more), been there several times and never once has it been touched. It could be that I have army plates, but I think the cesspool dwelling members of our *fine* society go after the easy prey- cars that don't have all that laser cut key, computer controlled, alarm system laden cars. It sucks these cretins roam our streets even.

Ginsue- If it ends up being more than your deductible, you can go ahead and file the claim, it's a comprehensive loss and therefore *Shouldn't* be a black mark on your record. Good luck!

Ray - like HoneyBadger said, nothing to mow anywhere near there (just crushed rock in the islands between rows).

Badger- I considered that as a possibility, but you could actually see where something slid something between the window & car body & along the same line was a crease in the shattered glass (there's no frame around the window on the door) with an impact point pushing out around the middle of the window. I think they were trying to get to my door lock which is forward & next to the door handle.

I figure if Safelite (one of the most expensive window replacement companies out there) charges below the deductible (which they do), it'll be totally on my dime. Plus, I've got 2 windshields needing replacement) - I don't need to risk cancellation due to filing too many claims.

Honda are some of the easiest cars steal. I grew up in a seedy area around some less than stellar people and I heard this all the time.

Here is an article to back it up:

Ginsue, you won't get canceled for filing a claim; but don't file a claim.

Ronin, how can you call yourself a car person and not understand why a '95 Civic would get stolen 59 times out of 60 times over your car?

ETA: It's not even that Hondas are easy to steal (which they are).
