Not to mention that crime that was created and how many US dollars have funneled to the Colombian and Mexican drug cartels over the years (and still going at record pace). If these items were legal and the cost associated was the cost of components, creation and whatever profit the market bared there would be no money for drug cartels continents away. Save the punishment & subsequent prisons for the criminals.

It's just too bad the majority of our nation now fits this mold and liberties and freedoms have to be sacrificed as a result.

THIS! My good friend that I grew up with has been battling cancer for about 3 years now... she feels like shit pretty much 22-23 hours a day (that other hour or two is when she can actually sleep), she doesn't eat, she gets these fits where she can't stop vomiting, and then along came marijuana. Boom, about 60% of her cancer treatment related problems were gone IMMEDIATELY. The rest gradually went away until it was about as good as it could get with hardcore radiation treatment. No more nausea, no more loss of appetite, and the pain was substantially less. Besides her daughter, she had no other reason to live before she had a completely different doc recommend pot. I would say it saved her life, and it's a medicine that works. Fuck the FDA, DEA, and congress for putting it down as a Schedule I narcotic (meaning "No medical benefits/use"), they also, in doing that, make it seem like it is as bad as cocaine and heroin.

Yup. It goes back decades to hemp production and textile rivalries. Plus the DEA would lose too many jobs and tax allocation. Not to mention an entire industry that the govt couldn't tax, and Big Pharma would be in immediate competition with for many of their flagship drugs.

As a Stage IV renal patent, I can state that Marijuana does save lives. I have held off Dialysis for 7 (yes 7) years because of it. My Drs are amazed at how I'm still hanging on. Ex also has MS and it helps her tremendously too.
Grew up very anti, but when I met Dr Bob Melamede, and he explained that my vision loss could have been prevented had I been using MMJ, and the results I see now, I'll never stop using it.
