Default About to send paperwork in.

Got the signed form 1 and 2 back today (larimer). Is it a bad idea to use a money order? I don't have checks, and I'm also afraid if I did use a check that somehow I wouldn't have sufficient funds when they cash it for some reason. The only thing with a MO is that I can't see when they cash it. Is three weeks long enough to call and see if I'm pending? I don't want to wait 5 months and call and find out they don't have any record of my forms.

Also got this in the mail today, so I can Atleast set up my sbr upper and put this on my almost complete lower I just bought.

I sent a postal money order that way I did not have to worry about the funds.

Bimmer- 1. A Money Order is fine. 2. Do NOT have a short barrel and the receiver in you possession at the same time. Even if it's just parts. 3. Send in your paperwork and forget about it until October 1st. Calling the ATF to see if your pending just slows everyone else down. If there is a problem with your paperwork, they will call you.

He's ok with a short upper on a pistol lower, yes?

Any length barrel on a pistol lower is a handgun not a SBR.

If you are going to SBR the lower, why blow cash on this?

So you can shoot it as a handgun while waiting for the Form 1 to come back.

^that. And then when I get my stamp I can use that lower for the 16" upper.
Anyway back to the question. Since I sent it in using a money order how long should I wait to see if its in process, so that I know my money order wasn't "lost". I can't check to see if it was cashed, so I want to confirm that it is in process. After that I will forget about it.
