Default Fitting a Ruger to an H-S Precision

I recently purchased an H-S Precision stock from Stocky's Stocks for my Ruger and I cannot get it to fit. No matter where I shim with washers, I am unable to get the magazine latch plate to close. I've spoken with Stocky's who referred me over to H-S Precision, both of whom had the same suggestion of using washers to shim either the front, middle or rear screws. They both had commented to the same effect that "oh yeah, our stocks don't fit Rugers that well..." I wasn't aware that $400+ stocks made specifically for rifles have a tendency not to fit well? It was advertised a drop-in and go.

This is my first time using an aftermarket stock. I've been reasonably successful in my gunsmithing endeavors in the past but this is a different animal. I really have half a mind to send it back and call it a day. Anyone down south (Parker/Elizabeth/Franktown/Castle Rock) who can help? At this point I'm not really interested in spending a whole lot more money on it but I'm more than happy to listen to any suggestions.

But you are in a land far, far away. Thanks for the invite, it may well come to that.
