My venting thread. Mall Ninja Employee strikes again.
So Loveland PD called to inform us to be aware of a suspect in the general area on foot w/ a knife that did threaten a witness tailing him. Idiot me thinks mall ninja Paul Blart (from the 20 page gun training video) can handle just driving the edge of the property keeping an eye out. Meanwhile I'm dealing with the notifications I have to make and talking to the head of staff for the building and deciding if we need a lockdown. (Her and I against the idea, thanks me for being calm unlike Blart already getting some staff all nervous). Less than 5 minutes out and he's reporting that police are out and about, he doesn't see anyone, and giving other less than useless info to the point I ask him to stop radioing. He continues anyway and I just shut the radio off.
Little later I make it outside on the bike and he called that he saw someone in the employee lot and asked for the description again and that he wasn't making contact. I give description and bike over. I arrive and theres a teen standing besides an suv, driver door open. Paul Blart is in front of our car 20 foot away. (Too close if this was our guy.) I can immediately see the kid doesn't match the description at all other than grey and black hoody (description was black hoody). I ask Blart what's up and he informed me he just had the kid stay where he was and drop his keys. (Illegal detainder.) I send him away and apologize to the kid and explain someone similiar to his description was in the area cops were looking for. Kid seemed cool though he did say he was scared initially.
Informed my boss, should get him yelled at Monday, though we are now waiting to see if the kids parents lodge a complaint or something. (Kinda hoping they do, seems impossible to fire anyone here unless they get our contract pissed off at someone.) Just completely at wits end how even something real simple he screws up bad. (I knew his mall cop tendencies, but I underestimated them.)
