With that much time *CSP or 911 would, or should, have been your choice. Road rage is a Felony, which i've been told they take almost as serious as meth bust. being in a vehicle gave you a "Fligth" option. Had you engaged the threat you would be facing charges. This may or may not have happened to someone very close to me at one time, with multiple LE's responding, rather fast.

Can you go into a little detail on this situation that, for the sake of argument, never happened to a friend?
Now for my situation: Would've called but couldn't reach the phone. In the same situation but unable to reach the phone and unable to get away(I was obviously able to get away so no need to draw) would you have drawn?

Best thing you can do is try to escape these assholes. Here is a story about a road rage killing in Colorado Springs....http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/i.../t-230073.html
True story here. My brother in law's dad had a guy get out of his car at a stoplight with a bat in one hand. The guy beat on his window with his hand and keep yelling for my brother in law's dad to get out of the car and fight. My Brother in laws dad pointed his pistol and the guy step back from the truck, he them got out and held the guy at gun point until the cops came. Both were arrested and taken to the station....... My brother in laws dad was released and given his handgun back. The other guy was charged with assault and reckless driving but my BNL dad had to go be a witness in court. I guess the moral of the story is keep driving if you can or it might be several hours until everything is figured out and you are free to go..... And if you do shoot, I bet you will be in courtrooms for years, even if you are in the right side of the law.
I've been in road rage incidents (as the recipient) and I have never found it difficult to drive away when the douche is busy getting out of their car. I've been lucky in that way, because I haven't been hemmed in during those events- although there was one time I ended up going over a curb to drive into/through a parking lot so I could avoid the confrontation. He "won." Big whoop.
From what i've experienced, road rage is all about territoriality and the need to "be right" and I want no part of any of it.
I don't quite understand why there wasn't time to shove the car in Park, release the belt buckle and duck down to grab the phone to call 911. Lord knows the Flying Phone has happened to me many times in the car, and I've pretty much perfected the 'scoop-up' within a couple of seconds. I don't know....maybe I would have laid on the horn and moved out of the way.
I don't think I would draw on a road-rager unless they came up with their own gun, or a chainsaw or something, and there was nowhere for me to go. But that's just me.

I have a friction lock beat stick that I would consider grabbing for the right asshole too... lol...
it boils down to me hating assholes. I hate living in a world where fuckheads do whatever they want because the good people cant (wont) act..

Can't and Will not act are 2 different things. You're in a vehicle you have the ability to "FLIGHT" Just the same in a potential use of deadly force while walking or out on the town. The question asked in investigators minds is. Could you have gotten away, vs. use of deadly force. You're hemmed in , in traffic and assailant starts breaking the windows in your car while wife and kids are with you. Or you're at a stop light with no or minimal traffic and same thing happens.
A: Use any means necessary to stop the threat
B: Gas n GO!
Play the game sometime when shopping, movies or even driving.
WHAT IF? Can you escape, or are you in a no win scenario, where deadly force is the only option. Is there an exit route, have i left enough room between my vehicle and the one in front of me to move ?

all great points as usual Jim!
My greater issue is that we are letting the world spin away from us... right down the shitter... and IF* the stars align, and you can teach somebody a lesson (I dont mean with a gun, and I know it's none of our business to teach people lessons)... I think we owe it to society. im certainly not talking about anybody in this thread.
lets just say nobody is putting hands on my truck with me sitting in there...
