Default AR/M4 rifles will soon disappear from the shelves in Colorado

As most of you know, limited numbers of AR/M4 rifles have gradually returned to the store racks, and most retailers have some .223 or 5.56 ammo some of the time. But just at the time we're beginning to see normalcy return to the market, I believe a renewed shortage of modern sporting rifles looms for Colorado due to the coming mag ban.

Now only ten days from the June 30 deadline, online retailers like Bud's have now discontinued shipping AR/M4 rifles to CO because they are factory packaged with 30 rd. mags. The online retailers don't want to be stuck with rifles in CO that have transfer delays beyond the deadline., and they won't open the seals on the boxes to remove the mags because then they can't be sold as unopened new stock.

On July 1, any remaining local store stock of guns with 15+ rd. mags will be shipped out to parent stores or back to the LGS distributors. Cabela's will ship all local AR/M4 stock to out of state stores. So, there will be no rifles for sale in CO until the manufacturers specially package rifles with 10 round mags. My theory is that the mag ban will create a renewed shortage of rifles.

I'd be interested in your thoughts, especially those of CO FFL dealers, about when we'll see sporting rifles back on the shelves.

Will a court injunction forestall this before the deadline?

In California the dealers will often take out the restricted mags and replace them with ones they can legally sell. This applies mostly to guns that are special ordered by somebody but could be the case for any dealer willing to take the time and stock the replacements. Of course they'll be getting guns fresh from the factory (or whatever) with legal mags soon after. I guarantee you the big chains have a plan for this since they're in the business of making money and want to maintain sales the best they can.

Sounds like we will be building our own rifles from here on out.

I've never seen a rifle in a gun store still in the box on the shelf. They unbox all their stock. Open them, remove the mags, and sell the rifle, what's the big deal?

Too many holes in your theory. NO FFL in CO will be shipping ANY AR'S back to the vendors because of the magazines. They will sell the mags on line / out of state and not sell guns with 15rd mags. They will pull the mags and replace with 10rd ones or just receive Post 9/94 Compliant units.
EVERY LGS i have been in the last 2 days is stacked to the ceiling with "Black Rifles" The only shotage i see at LGS' are LE Glocks AND 357 lever actions.

Unless you have a pre 94 Colt which did come "sealed" in a plastic bag Every Hand gun and Rifle i ever unpacked was in a plastic or cardboard box. Out come the mags, log in to bound book , out to the display area.
Stop pushing unnecessary Panic, we have enough bullshit going round as it is. Unless you're getting ready to post a few AR's in the TP
