    Default Help me out

The wife wants to get away for Fourth of July weekend and I am clueless to find a place. Want to stay here in Colorado. Somewhere in the mountains. Someplace quiet and peaceful and maybe a little romantic. She wants to go "some place different" or "some place we haven't been". That rules out a lot of places. No Estes Park, no Glenwood Springs, etc.

We don't get up near Steamboat often so some place that way might be an option. Or maybe towards Bailey or Fairplay or somewhere that direction.

I'd prefer to keep the drive under four hours, the cost reasonable, and would prefer some sort of cabin or bed & breakfast.

Don't really need stuff to do, just want to hang out and enjoy nice weather, beautiful scenery, and each others company for a couple of days.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Just stayed in a cabin near twin lakes exactly like your describing. Kind of pricey though. $150-$250 a night. Guy who built it also has a rustic furniture store. Click image for larger version.

That's better than some of the ones I was looking at. They were more than $325 a night. A three night stay would set me back close to $1K.

Any place up in that area looked awesome. Even had a place to shoot between it and Leadville where the locals shoot. I stretched out to about 450 yards there.

    Creede is a wonderful place.

Yup, Ouray, Telluride, Ridgeway are all nice places.

I thought about Ouray but doesn't it pretty much kill a day getting there?

Check out Grand Mesa Lodge. Prices very reasonable, scenery all around, fishing right out the door, several wineries close by for tours and tasting.
