Basketball has become a more popular sport since that era (due in large part to that area) and now better athletes and have been playing since childhood and on top of that all of the world's talent is now in the NBA. The best international player of that era was Kukoc and he was on Jordan's team. Now, you have dozens and dozens of international players starting on NBA teams. The competition is every bit as good if not more difficult than it was then so that's not even an argument. Now, you can say it's less physical now than it was then but I think that's a determent to Lebron seeing as how he's 6' 8" 270lbs & insanely athletic and quick for his size. If anything, he would have been better in that era than he is now.
