A rant agianst Airlines

My Dad passed away unexpectedly Tuesday night. So tried to get a flight to Tampa, checked with all the airlines and NO ONE has a discount for bereavement travel.
I did get a small discount going from US air.
All the rest (when you can get a person) stated "The best rates will be on our website".
KMAss, I could drive there cheaper but would take too long.
So srew the f'n airlines after this.

Anyone here work at 1? Even 1 of our clients that works for United could not get a better rate with their discount.

The only thing I can think of, though, is that if they DID offer some sort of discount, then suddenly parents and grandparents would be "dying" left and right. Society's evolved to the point where lying doesn't have the stigma it used to.

after my first wife passed airtran gave me discounted tickets to JA (75% off) i did have to show them a death cert though

It was some time ago, but when my father passed Frontier gave me a break - not a discount per se, but changed a ticket I had for some weeks in the future w/o fee.

Sorry about your loss. Bet they would go out of their way to transport you. I smell entitlement here. Sure you are on the right site?

I imagine they would always get people saying this and that. There are already people who will pack 100 pounds of crap into a carry on and put 50 more in a laptop bag and lug in through the terminal rather than pay the checked bag fee.

Airline ticket prices haven't changed much in the last 30 years or something like that but people want the same first class service when fuel prices are crazy.

I am sorry for your loss. My mother was in the hospital last year and I had a ticket to go home. Got caught in jury duty and they would not let me out. The only thing the airline did even with a letter from the court asking for the fees to be waived was a discount on the change fee. I still had to eat the change in ticket price that was $100 one way.

I work in the airline industry.. and it went downhill cause of these greedy cooperate f*cks that are running the show.

"More bang for your buck" this week.... next week will be more bang for $.50.. next week... well.. you know where I'm going with this.

I've been working at the airport going on 8 years and I don't even have flight benefits.
