Can Badgers Break Cow Femur Bones?
Hmm, thought I posted this already, but anyway, anyone know if badgers can break off cow femur bones (upper leg) in half? Found a dead cow with the rear leg bones broken off, looked funny. Anyone else ever see this?
Darn right I can! ...but I'm no ordinary badger!
What makes you think it's a badger? Do you have coyotes around?

Badger holes, or big holes anyways. Quite a few of them. Really, their jaws are kinda small for that. But are they known to break bones for marrow? I can't find anything online. Yes, there are coyotes, can they do it?
I don't know about a badger taking on a live cow but you can bet if the cow got spooked by it and took off running he could definitely break its legs in the holes.. Then the badger would probably eat on him! What a way to go.
Agreed...no badger is going around and breaking a cow femur. But holes can sure break a femur if it is stepped into. This the is main reason why prairie dogs are such a pest. Badger holes are a bit bigger.
Sorry, but I don't see a badger even eating a dead cow. Badgers mostly eat earth worms, grubs, insects, etc. They can be mean, but that doesn't mean they will eat like a chupacabra.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

The cow was already dead. The bones were broken mid-bone, both in same area of bone about. Something was getting the marrow. Can a coyote do it? The cow was already gone. Femure bones are about the stoutest in a cow, (deer, elk etc) Something broke them to get at the marrow. The upper parts were still in the hip. So the break had to be when somewhat fresh.
