Default Things got a little warm near Boulder!

I left my house at 1:00PM Wednesday to go help a friend remodel his bathroom, and I didn't get home until about eight or nine on Thursday. They had all of the routes roadblocked.

My house was basically two ridges away from the inferno, about 1-2 miles as the crow flies. Fortunately, I was West of it, so the winds kept it going the other direction. But if you recall any references to Old Stage, Lefthand, or Lee Hill being closed, that's my neck of the woods.

They wouldn't even let local traffic enter, but fortunately my dog and cat made it through just fine ( I wasn't able to reach them for a day and a half.) I didn't even have any of that soot on my property some people reported.

Anyways, everything is back to normal again.

glad things worked in your favor (in the long run) did you take any pics?

I personally think it's BS you can't do things "for your own protection". but it's big brother and lots of libtards want to THINK they're doing the right thing, because after all, thats all that maters.

I'm not usually one to lose my temper, but when the cops said I couldn't pass, I became absolutely livid. Of course, I didn't yell at them, but I was bashing the steering wheel and cursing as I drove away. They basically told me if I could find a way around the road blocks, I could go home. That's what did it for me. I could go home, so long as I went around them. Utter asinine bullshit. .

I MapQuested the area around my house at a friend's computer, and found an alternate route, but the MapQuest details of the area were completely off once I started traveling the area. None of the roads were listed correctly, but that's not the first time MapQuest has proven wrong for me.

I'm a diabetic, so I need my insulin, etc. Plus my dog and cat were still at home, and the pricks still wouldn't let me through. I even had my DL out to prove where I live as I walked up to them. .

Nevertheless, I did take a whole bunch of pictures as I was walking my dog today. I'll post them later tonight after I'm done running errands. I originally said the fire was 1-2 miles from my house, it was more like 200-250 yards now that I have seen the scorched earth in daylight.

Here you can see the roof of my house, the perspective makes the scorched earth seem closer than it is, it's actually a good 200-250 yards away.

Of course, there's always tomorrow to look forward to, and the brighter, more beautiful side of nature always proves to be a refreshing air from its destructive aspects:

Really glad to hear that you made it through unscathed (minus the disruption).

That last pic is absolutely great!

When I saw the news I wondered if anyone from the board was being affected. Glad everything is ok. Nice pics too.

It's amazing to me the stupid shit cops will do in the name of safety.
