    Default Where to donate??

    Hi guys,
With all the fires, etc.... I've been doing some cleaning/downsizing....

where do I go to donate items to fire victims, etc? I know Salvation Army, goodwill, etc. but is there some place in Colorado Springs that is taking donations specifically for the fire victims, etc?

I have a few sets of silver ware, place settings, mugs, two non matching end tables, and misc other items I'd love to give to someone who can put them to use.

    help?

    thanks,
    bear

Awesome and there are a lot of folks in need!

I'm no social networking "Guinness" but for a first stop I believe the El Paso CTY Disaster Assistance Center is still running: http://www.elpasoco.com/Pages/DRC.aspx. Also saw this one from the BF locals: http://www.bfcommunityclub.org/

Barring that, I'd bet Care & Share has a network of numbers.

    Good on you BigBear!

Salvation Army will take stuff like you mentioned. A couple weeks ago they were accepting stuff designated for fire victims at the Yuma St headquarters but realize they can be most flexible in meeting the needs of victims if donations are fungible. We had a well-meaning woman drop off a TON of brand-new clothes she had just bought at Wal-mart a couple weeks ago and while she said they could turn them in for gift cards, it would have been even better to just drop off some $10-20 giftcards for the victims to get what they need rather than sort through for sizes and styles.

Call them at the Yuma St address and ask if you can do specified donations like that.
