    Could be worse. Could be a meat recall on ground beef. You hear and read about processor X recalling 25K lbs of ground beef that was sold Feb 2013. HOWEVER they don't announce anything till April, 2 months later. Don't know about you , when we buy meat, it's usually gone within the week.

    We didn't get a call either, only way I knew is that my wife is a nurse at the hospital. They started making preparations right away. Although 9news stated that they would be giving water to everyone, instead of just patients and their guests So I spent the night drinking beers to cleanse my gut :-)

    I had no idea that this was as common as some of you are saying. What I find most alarming is the lack of notification in a timely manner. Food recalls are bad enough, but I'm one of those that tends to buy in bulk, cook some and store the rest for later. I've got some water set by, but you can bet I'll be setting more aside.

    As someone else said on here (Irving, I think) this is a prime time to start people to the prepping mindset.

    It's not even remotely as common as some people in here are saying. Why do you think it's all over the news right now, and you never see it on the news?

    I'm tied very closely to this incident, and all I can say right now is keep boiling your water. Hopefully the samples that were dropped off last night and will be ready to read tonight come back negative. The bac-t / e-coli test takes 24 hours to fully mature.

    Good idea, I googled "boil advisory july 2013" and it returned Brighton, CO;

    These places in Mississippi:

    Boone county Missouri; Jacksonville, NC;

    These streets in Butler county OH:

    These locations using the Del-Co Water Company in OH:

    Boil Advisories for July 5, 2013:

    Del-Co Water Co., Inc. has two boil advisories in effect at this time.

    Del-Co Water Co., Inc. has issued a boil advisory for our customers at: 6045-6576 CTY RD 25, 5720-6524 CTY RD 23 and 3273-3718 CTY RD 172 in MORROW COUNTY --- These customers are advised to boil water used for cooking and drinking as a precautionary measure until Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Del-Co Water Co., Inc. has issued a second boil advisory for our customers at 4632-4250 SMOTHERS RD, ALL OF SILVER LAKE CT & ALL OF MANITOU DR in GENOA TWP --- These customers are advised to boil water used for cooking and drinking as a precautionary measure until Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

    and this one in Kansas:

    Boil advisory lifted by KDHE

    Thursday, July 04, 2013 2:59 AM

    Boil advisory lifted by KDHE

    The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has rescinded the boil water advisory for the city of Delphos, which is in Ottawa County.
    The boil water advisory was issued Tuesday because of a loss of pressure in the water system because of a water main break. Laboratory testing on samples collected indicate no evidence of contamination, and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination have been determined by KDHE officials to be resolved.

    ...and that was just the first page of my google search.

    That's the government for ya, keepin' ya'll safe.
