The Great Kazoo's Feedback

Bear in mind, I'm a lifelong vegan at 46 years of age. I've never had a glass of milk, an egg, a Big-Mac, bacon, a steak, or fried chicken. I do a 4.5 mile hike every afternoon that has a 1,200' elevation gain...in under an hour, daily. I didn't really 'give up' a lot by being on a juice diet, I merely drank my food instead of chewing it. Yes, I cut out some carbs but the only thing I really lusted after was a handful of cashews or almonds, which I tend to have on many days.
I'm off the juice diet now and dinner tonight: a kale salad with a few tomatoes. I wasn't hankering for a steak while on the juice diet - it's hard to miss what you have never had
It was a fun challenge that amused my wife but I think 26 days is enough to cover my needs.

As odd as it likely sounds, there's a bit of a psychological barrier there. I suspect a steak would be a very alien texture/consistency to me but I've yet to test that theory. It does not bother me, in the least, when someone sitting next to me orders the entire carnivore menu, nor do I have any desire to convince anyone to adopt my dietary oddities. I was raised this way and some things are just engrained at this point. I've yet to experience any 'downside' to it (I've run a full marathon in 2:38:55 so it's not like there's a fitness drawback) and have had a fairly normal life, I just tend to order the salad and baked potato when with a group that goes to a steak house![]()
Totally understand. Lots of people perceive foods in different ways, even having eaten them. If you've never had a steak, there is zero reason for you to ever want to try one. I didn't like steak till after I was 21. I could never tell what the big deal was. Anyway, I won't derail the diet thread. Back to people posting up weight loss numbers. That's what we're really here for.

Alright, I'm lost on options choices. Supposedly Macy's has some sale saturday for 25% off juicers (or everything?) Not sure if everything online is available in store. But any pointers on what to look at in the around 150 or under category? (IE I don't think I'm game for $330 pro versions.) I see the Brevilles, but thought some of the others similiar priced (and even as low as like $60) were on the good list?

Day 24 since breaking the juice fast check-in:
Starting Weight: 290.8
Current Weight: 263.6
Previous Weight: 264.8
Lost since yesterday: 1.2
Total Weight lost: 27.8
Most Weight lost: 27.8
Lowest Weight: 263.6
Lost since fast: 3.8
I haven't done an update for a while although I've been tracking daily and keeping up with the diet and exercise so I'm not sure on the days but I'm thinking 24 since I broke the fast. I continue to lose weight but it's at a much slower pace now and the little things play more of a part as some days I will go up a pound or two and then other days I go down a pound or two. With adding more walk into my days I notice that the down days appear to be more consistent. Go figure, more exercise equals more fat burnt. lol At any rate my weight is now my new low and it looks like that's going to keep trending downward so there's no reason to include the lowest weight stats in the update figures since I added that when I ended the fast as I started to gain a few pounds to track what my low was so I could get back to it. It feels good to be losing weight while eating food. I haven't strayed from the diet plan and still feel like I could't have done this w/o the juice fast.
I'm not fat, I'm tactically padded.

Just found this thread.
I have done the juice diet as well. I haven't done the full 60 day version yet, but I now do somewhere between 3-7 days once a month.
As a result I watch what I eat more carefully, because I can feel a difference when I eat poorly. I don't feel as good, have the energy, or sleep as well as when I eat appropriately.
So far I am down ~30lbs, and I intend to kick it up a notch over the winter when I have more down time. It's hard to stay on track foodwise when I am on the road or eating out of gas stations in the oilfield.
I also notice that I don't yoyo on my weight doing this like I used to with other attempts at getting back into shape. Even when I can't eat properly I don't gain a lot of what I've lost back, which is nice.
So much work left to go... Holy crap do I miss my metabolism from playing sports in HS just 10 years ago.
I got the Storebound "Dash" at Macy's. I'd put $100 that it was made by the same factory as the Breville's. , just rebranded like you see in a lot of other equipment. (Lyman and HF ultrasonic cleaner as an example.)
Have to exchange it already as I opened it up and the thing was a fucking used return that still had little chunks of food in it. Doesn't bother me so much as just not knowing what abuse the other people put through it.
I had a question for some of my first juicings.
A: How thick a rind can go through? IE for zucchini/cucumber, should those be shelled first?
B: What's with the love of ginger I see in so many things? I don't think I could stand a concentrated blast of that in anything I drink.
I think since I first posted in this thread, I've actually dropped my 5lb goal weight. Wondering if I should almost add weight before I get my gf to do the diet with me. (She's the one that needs it.)
The garden is in full-swing now and thus although I'm no longer on 100% juice, I tend to have a glass of vege juice each morning - all that kale/tomato/pepper/chard isn't going to just disappear unless I consume it somehow!
I think one big upside of this is how it might influence what I plant next year...
