You can get too much of anything, be it ginger or chocolate covered donuts, but some things make green organic vege juice more palatable. For me it was a teaspoon of cayenne per 32oz of liquid but others opt for ginger. We did ginger in this mornings batch and may have overdone it a tad but it's (in our case) simply a way of spicing things up and making it not taste like you are drinking emulsified lawn clippings.

Have a feeling that I'd like the grass clippings over drinking a spicy slurry. I hate bloody mary/old fashioned v8.

Going to try today bizzare odds and ends. Tomatoe, Squash, cucumber, apple and maybe some other ends laying around.

I washed all of my produce, cut it into manageable pieces and stuffed it in the juicer. That includes 3-4 whole cucumbers at a time. If it's a decent juicer, it shouldn't have any problems with it.

The primary juice I drank was Mean Green which calls for ginger. It tastes kind of off without the ginger.

I'm at 263 after a couple weekends of debauchery and am planning on sticking to my meal plan (chicken breast, ground beef and a crap ton of salad) and juicing once per day.

Well, the girlfriend loved it though I didn't get her to finish a whole cup. (We had just had dinner/coffee). I however found it appaling.
    Zuchini/tomatoes of diff types/blueberry/apple/whitegrape/little celery/something I can't remember.

This morning at parents. Zuchini/carrots/pineapple and mango/romaine lettuce/onion. Also gross. Very well could be the onion, but I'm thinking I can't stomache the zuchini which I've always hated.

Was there a good one stop shop for reading more about juicing. IE how much to drink, how much water, good combo's. (She asked corn and I said no way not that great for you at all.)

Idea is I'm going to try her on 1-2 months of juice diet for breakfast/dinner and some kind of fairly healthy lunch at work. Maybe high fiber since I won't get her pure juice. Find some other healthy simple meat cuts or snacks she can have. Aside from maybe dropping 20 or so lbs on her, hoping that I can get her to have a taste/craving/lifestyle change with it. (I've had very poor luck with just modifying it by itself, she can't tolerate oatmeal/whole oats, very picky meat eater. (Hates chicken)).

The best resource out there is rebootwithjoe.com.

I'd try to get here to just do 30 days straight or juice. Doing that has completely changed my tastes and I eat pretty much nothing but whole foods now with a ton chicken, ground beef and steak. I avoid carbs like the plague and my weight loss is still going strong.

Why are you just throwing things into a juicer willy nilly and then wondering why it tastes like ass? You don't cook meals with that many ingredients that way, do you? Just find some recipes online that contain things you would like and start there. There's plenty of good info in this thread with recipes and websites to find additional info and Google & YouTube are your friend for all things juice fast. Eating ANYTHING at all isn't a juice fast.

Just to give it a try that's why. All that matters is she liked it. Like I said I hate some of the main ingredients so not surprised. (Not a big fan of non ketchup tomatoes either).

I can see if she'd take some bottled stuff for work, but based on other peoples replies 2/3 meals juice sounds good enough to me. She's not 300 lbs like some of you were so not quite seeking such dramatic results. Really it could cause 0 lb loss by itself, but as long as it works as a tool to wean her off her usual crap diet.

I'm not saying it's not a juice fast as a negative thing. Any changing of lifestyle for the positive is a good thing. But the benefits you get from doing a full juice fast will never be realized. You're basically doing a real low calorie diet which means you will likely be physically hungry 24/7 for the duration. When you do a juice fast you are only physically hungry for the first 3-4 days. This means that your body will switch to converting stored fat to Ketones (think calories & fuel) to burn in place of the calories you would normally take from food. You will burn some fat not doing a fast but it won't be as high because your body will always be bouncing between starvation mode and ketosis. Starvation mode means it doesn't burn fat and stores whatever it gets it's hands on from the food you do take in. It's complicated but like I said, anything that's a change for the positive in lifestyle is for the better but to do a full juice fast if you're going to do it is best. You'll get the best results and have the least problems this way.

You said she has 20lbs to lose? Just go paleo and get her in a gym, not on a treadmill but lifting.

She won't lift. She's very obstinate PITA. Granted I think diet is most important. Some weights wont matter when taco bell is a staple.
