I flew on the B-24 several years ago. Missed it by one week the first year, second year we were taxiing and got a flat tire and couldn't fly, finally got to fly the third year. My grandpa was a navigator on a B-24 with the 5th Air Force 90th Bomb Group (The Jolly Rogers) in the Pacific.
One of the guys on the plane with me had his father with him flying. He was a mechanic on B-24's in Aus in WWII. He showed me pictures from WWII and wouldn't ya know it there he was with B-24's from the 90th Bomb Group. Fun time on the plane and meeting this gentleman.
It's The Collings Foundation that owns and flys the planes. If memory serves it is the only B-24 that is still flying.
