As a European LEGAL immigrant and a US CITIZEN, I feel I should point out two things:
There are no natives:
If my history studies serve me correct, the first humans on this continent came across the Bering Strait, from Asia.
You see, as a lot of people like to point out, we are ALL immigrants, including the so-called natives.
I guess the poor buffaloes could bring the same argument: "We were here first, then this weird people on two legs came out of nowhere, UNINVITED, and started killing us by the millions".
So, the "natives" were invaded by a population that was technologically more advanced, with less "rules of engagement" , and since they were unable to unite against a common enemy until it was too late,
they lost the war and their land and got slaughtered.
Guess what,
it happened to every population on Earth at some time of another, get over it.
Like it or not we live in a European modeled Country:
I am assuming we all love the way the USA turned out (or at least until recently).
Guess what, it was modeled by Europeans, after ideals of Democracy that were originally postulated in Europe.
Had it stayed the way the Natives had it, we would still be chasing Buffaloes in the plains trying to put a meal on the table (did nobody realized that fencing in a Buffalo and a few females would result in more Buffaloes? No more chasing them around, they are right there in the backyard?).
So, next time you see one, hug a European!
