Anyone ever tried Sushi Urakura over in Golden on West Colfax Ave by the Honda dealership?

Next hard part will be agreeing on a location. I recommend we come up with 3-4 and then vote.

    Default Sushi den

Health department also says that the fish needs to be kept at a certain temperature, but for the portions being prepared and served that day the fish needs to be warmer or the taste is off. That is the most common violation for sushi restaurants, and everyone gets dinged for that. I cannot say for sure if Sushi Den and John Holly's is flash frozen, deep frozen, or pre-frozen, but I do know they get shipments daily and it tastes fresher than anywhere else in Denver.
Unless you live on the coast, all 'fresh fish' is deep frozen in the boat to prepare for shipment. This maintains it's 'freshness' and kills parasite.

Fish for immediate consumption in the coastal area can be served as fresh as it gets. But as far as fish being shipped to restaurant in Colorado, they are always deep frozen.

The supposedly 'fresh' fish sometimes arrives here with frozen center.

That 'freshness' you tasted was simply a higher quality fish. For an example, ika sashimi when its truly fresh is transparent not white. Octopus sashimi is supposed to be served alive. Again, not chopped up like in CO.

I might pick up some tuna and salmon tomorrow... All these sushi talk making me wanting some homemade sashimi. Yummmm

Down toward the south end of town, i find that Mt. Fuji in Southlands does a good job as does Jun's in Parker....

Yep, I like Sushi Uokura. They have a decent all you can eat deal going. Something like $23 for all you can eat dinner, $16 lunch.
They lost their likker license a while ago and haven't gotten it back, if that's a show stopper for you.

The best by far on the west side of town is Namikos at 52nd & Wadsworth.

I couldn't disagree more about Namikos! I have never had good sushi or good service there.

Every time I have been, the rolls are falling apart the moment you try to pick them up, and you are ignored by waitstaff for an obnoxious amount of time. The last two times I went I had to chase people down in order to pay my bill. The owner's excuse is generally they are so busy so they don't have time to come check - if you're so busy... hire more people!

Hapa isn't bad for rolls, but I prefer sashimi.

The first good meal I have ever had in Winter Park was the Sushi Lounge.

Once you find the place the food isn't bad, but pretty pricey.

One thing about Katsu Sushi and Sushi Train is they offer a sit down buffet and their lunch menu is 'all you can eat' less than $15

I miss the Todai at Cherry Creek, have been to the one in 'Vegas and Redmond, much pricier, but a hell of a selection.
