I was just going off of what the manager (probably no longer there as this was about 7 years ago) of Edwards advised when I used to go there, bourbon and brandy go well with a cigar. Another go-to if you want, that helps with the flavor and compliments each other well is cola... then again I rarely ever smoke a cigar (when I did) without a beverage of some kind. Beer usually isn't the best to compliment a cigar, though.
