As for OP & tracking. Assume every company you interact with is selling everything they possibly can get hold of. It is a losing battle but I have not given up yet.
I installed this on the 7th and it says it has block 7318 attempts so far. Also another great extension is Adblock plus, i do not get popups or even commercials on youtube any more.
I use Privoxy. It is more designed to stop commercials and advertisements than "don't track me" I suppose, but I love not seeing 95% of ads! Granted, on occasion I do have to disable it (like some TV stations hard-code their videos to require the prelim ad in order to see stuff), but the vast majority of the time I surf ad-free.
I've been using Ad Block Plus for a few years and really like it. It doesn't cover Flash imbedded ads though.
FF used to have an Add-On that let you select a proxy IP. Phzilla?
How well do these free proxy services work (Hide My Ass, Page Wash, etc) for not being tracked?

Just kidding. Much of what is being done is a part of the world we now live in. It is a lot of work keeping off of everyone's radar, all of the time.
Its a little different, MS calls it "Tracking Protection" and the outcome is similar.
Try NoScript!
It will block any and all webpage scripting, Flash included. It does cripple some webpage functionality, so you may want to "whitelist" certain page that you use often.

Thanks HB for the tips! Downloaded and installed on my work laptop, will do the same as soon as I fix my other laptop.
Ironically enough, after I installed it and refreshed the page, it showed ar-15.co was tracking me, then Chrome crashed
