Default Petition to put "remove mag ban" on the ballot.

I haven't seen any mention of this yet. Sounds like they have the petitions approved and being distributed. Currently at 4 Denver area gun shops but they hope to expand.

    Put it to the people

    From their site:

    The ballot title:

Shall there be an amendment to the Colorado constitution prohibiting any restriction on the purchase or possession of ammunition storage and feeding devices other than a restriction enacted by a voter-approved law?

The exact language of the law is as follows:

    ****************************

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Colorado:

In the constitution of the state of Colorado, article II, add section 32 as follows:

Section 32. Gun magazines – no limitation or restriction.

No law, except a law enacted by a vote of the people, shall restrict or limit the right of the people to purchase or possess ammunition storage and feeding devices of any capacity.
Map of the 4 shops. map There's mention that they plan to be in every gun store in the state.

Facebook Seems to be updated more frequently than the main page.

Twitter Looks like they just started this, but this is where I found the map link.

    Email link to volunteer. putittothepeople@gmail.com

Making good use of social media. It also looks like they are accepting volunteers, so with the experience of the previous petition gathering... I know I could get a copy of one and get 20-50 people that I know that I can get to sign by bringing it with me places.

Not sure if this belongs here or Politics, but maybe a sticky?

Wonder how much money they have available to do this.

The CO teacher union donated 250k to support the tax increase. I do not think these things come cheaply.

If the hippies can get pot on the ballot, this can't be out of reach. I'd think the main focus is going to be actual volunteers vs. paid collectors. If most of us got involved, even on a personal level of learning the process of collecting them and had a petition with us, how many people do we each know that would sign?

They're using social media in a good way. The idea that the petition is going to hopefully be in every gun shop in the state will help as well.

IMO the background check is the issue that is the most nefarious, scary and dangerous law. The mag limit is just plain silly.

Have to disagree.. The most most nefarious was HB-1043. First passed but most damning. If you have a CCW and ANY run in with the law.... this could screw you.

"Under current law, for the purposes of criminal law, a deadly weapon is defined as a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded; a knife; a bludgeon; or any other weapon, device, instrument, material, or substance, whether animate or inanimate, that in the manner it is used or intended to be used is capable of producing death or serious bodily injury. The bill modifies this definition so that a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, qualifies as a deadly weapon regardless of the manner in which it is used or intended to be used."

I have strong doubts the background check law would be overturned. There is already a legal precedent, with the FFL sales and also Colorado's gunshow law.

I'm not impressed. Its very vague language.

    Make that very unimpressed.
