I lived in Manhattan during the 80s. Things have certainly changed since then. Here are my suggestions..

Visit the UN building cut down that barrel on that knotted up revolver,
Broadway,

Central Park

And for some fun...Drive through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel with your windows down during traffic hour.
